About Attorney Matthew McCook

Matthew McCook is an experienced attorney, regularly representing and advising clients on estate planning, elder law, and bankruptcy matters.  He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, Real Estate Bar Association, and the Worcester County Bar Association.  He serves on the Board of Directors for Greater Marlborough Programs, Inc. and the Marlborough Rotary Club.

Attorney McCook grew up in Marlborough and graduated from Saint John’s High School in Shrewsbury. He earned his undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Southern California and his law degree from Loyola Law School, both of which are nationally ranked and nationally accredited institutions. At Loyola, he also completed coursework in the LLM in Taxation program.  Prior to becoming an attorney, Attorney McCook worked as an analyst for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and later he taught high school math and chemistry in Los Angeles.

My fiancée and I were buying our first house and we had never been through the process before. Attorney McCook worked with the seller’s broker and attorney to negotiate the purchase and sale agreement. When our lender dragged their feet approving our financing, Attorney McCook negotiated an extension which protected our deposit and kept the deal on track towards the closing.

When the economy went into recession, my business experienced a substantial decrease in cash flow. As a result, I incurred a lot of debt that my wife and I had no hopes of paying off. Attorney McCook advised me on the bankruptcy process, drafted my petition, represented me at the meeting with the U.S. Trustee, and guided my case to completion. I received my discharge from the bankruptcy court and now I have a fresh start.
